Hi,
I've just built a machine based on a kt4V motherboard with a 2100xp athlon
processor, 512mb crucial and a 126mb crucial memory sticks. All is fine, win
XP setup goes ok, (initial drivers load etc,) but when it gets to the repair
or clean install stage, the computer shuts down and I get a two tone beeping
from the pc speaker. Help!!!!

cheers

Paul

Check the heatsink for proper installation.
Check bios for CPU temp.
Leave the PC just sitting, in the BIOS page showing CPU temp, and note
what happens, and if left there, does it shut down. Also note the
voltage readings, and take voltage readings with a voltage meter if
you have one available.

Check the motherboard manual for the beep warning.

Before installing Windows, run <a rel="nofollow" style='text-decoration: none;' href="http://www.memtest86.com" target="_blank">http://www.memtest86.com</a> to check
memory for several hours (better a day or longer). That shouldn't be
the reason for the shutdown, but since it appears you're trying to
install windows on a system that's not yet proven reliable and
error-free, it's a good idea to check the memory beforehand.
